A finish, a new start, and the anticipation of Maynia

We have a finish! Woooo! On the 27th, I finished Aurora. Now, in person, you can’t really see the backstitching on her hair, so I stopped part-way through. You can see it much better in the picture because I changed the lighting levels a bit. So here she is- the start of a blanket- Aurora!

I promptly started a new project as soon as I was done with her. This one is a mermaid pattern of my own design, and it’s freaking huge lol. I probably won’t get much work done on her in the next 15 days (or 30 days. We’ll have to wait and see how Maynia goes) but here’s what I have as of this morning:

As for Stitch Maynia . . . I have all my fabric and patterns ready. While I don’t know the exact order I’ll be starting them in, I do have the list I’d like to share with you. Some of these patterns can be found on Craftsy if you go through the free patterns or search for keywords, four patterns are from Sprite Stitch, and the rest are of my own making, either by finding a picture I liked online and running it through my pattern making software (tweaking it by hand, of course) or just coming up with my own random thing. The patterns are as follows:

  1. Howling Wolf (craftsy)
  2. Robin Hood Wanted Poster (craftsy)
  3. Pooh Bear (craftsy)
  4. Deadpool drawing ‘Hi, I’m Frances’ (craftsy)
  5. Pika Pile (sprite stitch)
  6. Princess Lea (sprite stitch)
  7. Willy Wonka (found image)
  8. Carl ‘Walking Dead’ (found image)
  9. Lucille ‘Walking Dead’ (found image)
  10. Stitch and Pikachu (found image)
  11. Boondock Saints (sprite stitch)
  12. Disney Princesses (sprite stitch)
  13. Fancy Elsa (found image)
  14. Draculara (found image)
  15. Medium Ravenclaw house crest (no idea where this came from other than a free dropbox thing)

And that’s it. It feels like a lot to work on, but I hope I can get them all done by New Year’s Eve. I know I have to finish the Ravenclaw house crest by November so I can send it to my little sister for Christmas, but other than that, there’s no other hard timeline for individual patterns here. What are your guys’ plans if you’re taking part in Maynia?

As per usual, here are some kitty pictures!

Crookshanks was being a pain and curled up in a box I didn’t want him in lol

Spooky moved her blankets over so she was right next to a trash can.

That’s all for this week. Until next time, Happy Stitching.

She has a face! Sort of.

Aurora sort of has a face! She has eyes, eyelashes, and a mouth, but most of the backstitching has yet to be completed. I have to wait until I do more of her hair and her necklace before I can backstitch those areas. I’m actually really close to finishing! Woooo! Here’s this week’s picture:

There are a couple mistakes in my stitching, but oh well. Not everything can be perfect, right? lol

As May first draws ever nearer, I’m finalizing my plans for Stitch Maynia. I’m pretty sure I can finish at least 4 of them the day I start them, which will take a load off my mind lol. I don’t like having too many unfinished pieces! (I say this as I shove that huge Disney project from last year further out of sight) I’m hoping to finish 8 next month, and then I can focus on my larger projects for the rest of the year. I have all my fabric ready, but I’m still missing I think about 30 colors from the DMC line and I don’t know how many of those I would need for the projects I plan to work on. Hopefully I have most of the needed colors.

So anyways, what are your guys’ plans? Are you doing Stitch Maynia? Are you doing something completely different?

To end the post, here’s a two for one kitty picture!

Until next time, Happy Stitching!

A finish and a new start

I finished Erin!!!!!! Yay!!!! Good thing too, since I was starting to get bored with her lol. If you don’t recall, she’s free from the Hazel Farm blog. I finished stitching her last night, cut down the canvas, and glued on a red felt backing, with a yarn loop to hang it up (don’t judge. I couldn’t find the box of ribbon lol) So here she is, in all her glory:

Isn’t she lovely? I think so.

Last night, I started a new project. I thought of starting one of my bigger ones, or a few of my smaller ones so I could knock them out ahead of schedule, but then I thought: why not leave them for Stitch Maynia? I could get at least 4 done the days I start them (hopefully more like 8), and make the month go a lot faster. Plus, I wouldn’t leave the month with around 15 WIPS lol. So anyways, I started a project that wasn’t on the list, but that I’ve been wanting to do:

Can you tell what it is? No? lol no worries. It’s Aurora, AKA Sleeping Beauty, and the fabric is a blanket. It’s from MCG Textiles, and I now know what everyone has been complaining about from them. The weave is very much not even. BUT I will keep using this. The fabric was free, and it’s not a super fancy, or full coverage pattern, so it should work. This is what it will look like when it’s finished:

So that’s it for stitching this week. This week’s kitten photos (or should I say ‘cat’? They’re both one year old now) include Crookshanks curled into a cute, giant fluff ball, and Spooky looking kinda fat lol.

That’s all for now. So until next time, Happy Stitching!

Is it Sunday already?

Well, I don’t have a finish yet. Hopefully I will in next week’s blog. But I do have some good progress on Erin. As a reminder, she’s free on the Hazel Farm blog.

I just have to finish up her harp and skin, and then do her hair.

Can you believe Crookshanks turned one on Friday?! I can’t. He’s still my baby kitten. Spooky turns one this coming Friday as well. My, how fast they grow lol. Spooky wasn’t amused when I took her picture, but Crookshanks was happy to look all cute and innocent lol:

That’s all for now ( I know, boring month and a week, SORRY!) So until next time, Happy Stitching!

A finish and a new start!

Wow. I totally spaced on posting this earlier! BUT I HAVE A FINISH!!!!!!!!!! That’s right! I finished ‘Minimalist Princesses! 28 days of stitching, so I finished it on Tuesday of last week, and it’s hanging on my wall in a black frame.

100_6775.JPG

It looks so lovely, and I think would look great in a living room with a few companion pieces that don’t have much detail in them.

Right after finishing that one, I started a new project. I wanted something smaller, but not any of my smallest projects, as I’ll be saving those for Stitch Maynia (one day finishes? yes please), so I started Erin, a pattern from the blog Hazel Farm. I was thinking of stitching most of her designs on 14 count plastic canvas, and turning them into ornaments. Here’s what I have so far:

Other than that, there isn’t much that’s new…. I might be putting up a few more designs in my shop soon, so that’s fun. I also have kitten pictures, of course. Can you believe they’re turning one this month? I can’t believe it lol. They’re still my little bitty kitties.
