Three pages down, three to go on Carl. I probably won’t finish the whole thing in time for the deadline, but I’m still going for it and as long as I finish his face, it shouldn’t be a big deal.
I’ve also put in a bit of work on the fairies. I’m actually at the bottom of the outer skirt of Flora’s dress! Just need to finish that up a bit before I can work on the underside, then it’s on to Merryweather

As much as I love black, and therefore working with DMC color 310, this section of Carl is kind of driving me batty. You see, I’ve been working on the underside of Carl’s hat, and the side of his face which is mostly black. I’m almost finished with that area, though! After I finish the side of his face, I just need to do the top of his shoulder and I’ll be finished with page two!
I went back to work on Firefly Fairies yesterday. I’m amazed at how much I was able to get done, considering I kept being distracted by dying fabric. I’m sure I’ll be able to finish this row today:
Speaking of fabric….. I dyed about 9 pieces this week! Most are in my shop, but I’m looking to recreate one before I offer it for sale. This little beauty will probably go fast!
As a side note: I just heard that DMC is going to release 35 new colors! 35!!!! They will range from gray to purple to brown to yellow-green. From what I read they will be available just about everywhere DMC is sold (except Walmart) starting in November. Is anyone else looking forward to the new colors?

In a sudden turn of events. . . AMC is holding a fan art contest for The Walking Dead which includes a chance to win a few different prizes, including tickets to L.A. to see the 100th episode premier. As you may know, I’m a big fan of The Walking Dead. The deadline for this contest is October 7th, so I’m going to try to finish Carl by the 5th.
Here’s where that change of plans comes into effect. From today forward, I’m going to spend weekdays working on Carl, and weekends working on Firefly Fairies. Hopefully I can get it done in time! At least I have the first page finished, so the other 5 pages might fly by a little more quickly:
As for Firefly Fairies, I did finish another row, and I might be able to do half a row to one full row per weekend now, but who’s to say, right?
In other stitchy-ish news: I’ve added a couple patterns to my shop, as well as a couple new pieces of fabric. Keep checking back every so often for more stuff as I add things kind of randomly.

Guys . . . I may have gone a little thread crazy this last week. I’ve purchased 110 skeins of DMC. Yeah. That’s a lot. 47 of them are new, and 66 were from Walmart, who had them on sale for 10 cents each. On a good note, I only need to buy 7 more to have all of the solid 6 stranded cotton DMC threads! This is what my ‘extras’ box looks like:
In stitching, I worked on Firefly Fairies, of course. Though I didn’t do quiet as much as I had hoped:
And I worked on Carl for a bit. I’ve finally reached the bottom of the page I’m working on, and am going sideways right now for the last two rows. (please pardon the slightly dirty hoop marks)
